• The first RFID based fully automated store in the world
was opened in Hickory, NC on May 1st, 2005.
• This project and its commercialization led to the following milestones:
• First commercially offered 100% Item-Level RFID store
• First commercially deployed "total" RFID system from
tagging at product generation, to distribution center tagging,
to checkout and security
• First standard extension software to retrofit existing
Point-of-Sale systems
• First EAS system with active filtering for motion and
other variables to prevent false alarms
